Pack 606 - North Hills Preparatory

Welcome to the Pack 606 website!  Pack meetings are at 7PM on the 1st Monday of each month during the school year.  We meet in the Primary Cafeteria building at North Hills Preparatory in Irving, TX.  If you would like more information about our pack, please click on the "Contact Us" link on the left.

Most Cub Scouts celebrate Scouting Anniversary Week in February with a "birthday party" called the blue and gold banquet. In nearly all packs, the blue and gold banquet is the highlight of the year. It brings families together for an evening of fun and cheer. It's often the pack meeting for February.  The purpose of the blue and gold banquet is to celebrate the pack's anniversary, thank pack leaders and other adults who have helped the pack, and inspire the leaders, Scouts, and parents. Packs often like to invite former members and other Scouting or community leaders to take part in their blue and gold banquet.

I need your help collecting a few items by the end of MarchThis should not be hard to accomplish

I will announce the reason at our April Pack Meeting. So for now please gather up and start collecting the following items. You may bring to each den meeting and give to Mr. B, until we have collected enough.

Scouting for Food - Required Community Service Project

Scouting for Food... A Scout is Helpful
Scouting for Food is the largest single-day food collection event in Dallas and one of the largest in the nation. On one day, approximately 30,000 Scouts go door-to-door collecting non-perishable food items for the less fortunate. The food is then distributed to local food pantries and assistance agencies across Circle Ten Council.

Pinewood Derby Races 1/28/2017

CALLING ALL RACERS!  Pack 606 will have its annual race on Saturday. January 28, 2017 at the North Hills Prep East Commons Gym.  
 
Registration starts at 11:00AM and closes at 12:00 PM.  The races will occur in this order starting between 12:00 PM and 2PM.
 
>    Tigers
>    Wolves
>    Bears
>    Webelos I 
>    Webelos II
>    Overall Pack Race
>    Outlaws
 
The first place winners of each den will then participate in an overall Pack race.  There will also be awards for other categories, such as best paint, design, theme, etc.
 
The Outlaw race is open to all parents, siblings and scouts (should they want to design a second car).  Outlaws are not required to meet derby racing rules, but need to check in their cars at the registration table.  
 
Car Kits.  Pack 606 has some kits for sale for parents and siblings.  You can also buy the kit at the scout shop or other local stores.  The kits are free for the scouts. Let me know if you need a kit and we can coordinate a pickup at NHP or my home. 
 
The registration function is enabled on the Pack606 calendar.  Kindly register all participants for each family so we can get a headcount for the snacks and awards/patches.  THERE IS NO REGISTRATION FEE.  All scouts and family members are welcome and encouraged to participate.   We especially want to see more Outlaw participation this year.  
 
Racing Cars & Rules
For those of you new to Pinewood Derby racing, check out the BSA's site, http://pinewoodderby.org/#.  You can also get great ideas on how to build your race card on the internet and at the BSA Champ Camp. Here are the rules.
 
Volunteers
We need volunteers to assist with the administration of the races. Send an email to committechair@pack606.com if you want to help out the day of the race.
>    On-site Mechanic.  Responsible for managing the mechanic's table where scouts will make last-minutes changes to their race cars.
>    Snack Coordinator. Responsible for coordinating distribution of snacks and water to scouts.
    *    If Akelas can bring additional snacks to share it would be appreciated.  
>    Timekeeper/Software Manager.  - SADIQ SHAIKH WILL MANAGE THE COMPUTER SYSTEM THIS YEAR. WE NEED A NEW COORDINATOR AFTER THIS YEAR.  
>    Assembly Crew - Akelas will be needed the night prior to the race to assist with the track assembly and testing of the track.  
>    Pit Crew.  Responsible for placing the vehicles on the tracks and keeping the cars in order. Other Akelas will be asked to help clean up after the event.
>    Photographer.  Take photos at the event and post on the Pack website.

Pack 606 Popcorn Sales 2016

Dear Scouts/Akelas,

Pack 606 has kicked off its Fall 2016 Popcorn Sales!  Our pack will conduct sales from 9/27/2016 to 10/10/2016.  You have three different ways to sell popcorn for our pack with goal of $150.00 per scout.  Our Pack goal is $10,350 in total sales.  Last year's sales totaled $8707.00.  Our commission will be 28% ($2898.00) should we meet our goal. The money will fund our pack's activities, patches, awards and leaders' training.  Our pack has grown 36% this year in membership so we'll need the funds for our activities and awards.
